Samokat Delivery Platform Begins Supplying to China
The "Samokat" delivery platform, owned by Sberbank of Russia, was established in 2019 and is the first service platform in Russia to operate warehouse-based delivery. Currently, the platform ranks among the top in warehouse numbers, orders, and revenue.
According to reports, "Samokat" has already registered an online store on JD.com and is in the process of registering one on Tmall. The platform has started supplying eight types of private-label products to China, including fruit jellies, chocolates, gummies, and other confectionery items.
A company spokesperson revealed that "Samokat" plans to export an additional 18 private-label products to China, such as pickled cucumbers, sun-dried tomatoes in oil, yellow mustard, pickled vegetables, tomato paste, and cereal bars.
The spokesperson highlighted the platform's confidence in the potential of exporting to China:
"Based on research data, the trend of Russian products in China is on the rise, and the market for these items remains unsaturated."
In June this year, the Russian Agricultural Export Development Center told Sputnik News Agency that in 2023, the bilateral trade volume of agricultural products, raw materials, and food between Russia and China increased by 33.9%, reaching $11.1 billion (9.4 million tons). China's exports of agricultural products, raw materials, and food to Russia grew by 5.8%, reaching $2.3 billion (1.2 million tons). Over the past six years, Russia's agricultural exports to China have increased 1.7 times.
