On November 23, China and Pakistan signed the Protocol on Inspection and Quarantine requirements of Pakistani Onions exported to China, marking the market access of Pakistani onions to China.

Pakistan is the sixth largest onion exporter in the world, with an annual export value of 243 million US dollars. China has a very broad and mature consumer market. In the future, Pakistan hopes to further increase agricultural cooperation with China and promote the export of mangoes, cherries, dairy products and other agricultural products to China.

From 2011 to 2019, trade in agricultural products between China and Brazil increased from US $490 million to US $830 million, an increase of nearly 70 per cent. Even under the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, the trade in agricultural products between the two countries remained relatively stable, with the trade volume reaching 770 million US dollars. From January to September this year, the trade volume of agricultural products between China and Pakistan reached 860 million US dollars, and Pakistan's exports to China reached 630 million US dollars, tripling that of the same period last year. Among them, Pakistan's mango exports to China reached 37.4 tons, an increase of more than 10 times over the same period last year.

The second phase of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement Protocol entered into force on January 1, 2020, and 75% of the goods of the two sides will be gradually reduced to zero tariffs, providing China's market access opportunities for more high-quality agricultural products in Pakistan. The two countries are highly complementary in agricultural trade, intensive processing and cold chain warehousing.
