Chilean Cheerios Committee: will continue to provide high quality Cheerios to China

Cristián Tagle, president of the Chilean Fruit Exporters' Association (ASOEX) Cheerios Committee, recently said that Chile will continue to provide high quality Cheerios to the Chinese market.

 
The latest data released by ASOEX shows that Chile exported 356,385 tons of carrion in the 2021-2022 season, slightly higher than the previous season (+1.11%), according to the website of Portaldelcampo Chile and Chilean Cooperative Radio. Of these, 325,477 tons were shipped to Asia, down slightly from the previous season (-1.52%), followed by North America (i.e., the U.S. and Canada, 13,876 tons, +177%), Latin America (6,504 tons, +21%) and Europe (6,254 tons, +29%).
 
Tagle said, "This season's carrion, with better quality, better prices and more diversified export markets."
 
However, while promoting the diversification of export markets, Tagle also believes, "Continuing to provide high quality carrion to the Chinese market remains an objective we cannot ignore in our work. Diversifying export markets is a necessary, but not the only, way to promote the Chilean carrion industry. Meeting the demand of our main markets will continue to be our biggest challenge. Therefore, we will focus on increasing the number of ports of entry for carrion in central and northern China."
 
For his part, ASOEX Marketing Director Ignacio Caballero said, "It's too early to make predictions about the new carrion season, but we will see better export prospects in October of this year, depending, of course, on weather conditions."
 
In addition to the drought, the logistics crisis may also cause difficulties for the new production season of carrion, for which Chilean carrion practitioners are trying to find solutions to ensure the availability of carrion on the tables of Chinese consumers. Caballero stressed that in order to increase the transportation of Chilean carrion in the new production season, they are working with Chinese parties to improve logistics conditions.
