According to the Bangladesh Daily Sun on March 15, Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said at a press conference on Monday that the Bangladeshi government will reduce the import link VAT of 10% on imported edible oil and only retain the 5% VAT at the consumer level. At the same time, the government will also eliminate the 15 percent VAT for edible oil producers. On Monday, the Mon National Assembly session also gave instructions to the Mon tax department to impose only a minimum amount of tax on imported consumer goods.
